The Castell dels Santmartí

The castle known as the Castell dels Santmartí is a living example of the inexorable passing of time. The monument we are visiting today is the result of many centuries of occupation and the significant rehabilitation and reconstruction work carried out since the 1960s through the love and care of the people of Sant Martí Sarroca. Few remains are left of the first construction, as the characters and the historical events taking place have left their footprint on the whole. Its walls recount tales of Galí and Guillem de Santmartí, of Mir Geribert, of the infants Joan and Martí and queen Sibil·la de Fortià; of the Pia Almoina of Barcelona and even of the architect Camil Pallàs. An ancient monument bearing witness to the history of the country.
