The origins of settlement in the territory

There are numerous remains that demonstrate the presence of humans long before the town was founded. The remains of Neolithic materials, found at sites such as Les Balmes de les Valls, El Turó dels Tres Pins or Les Guixeres de Vilobí, are evidence of the 7occupation and exploitation of the area since the third millennium BC.

The Iberians also inhabited this territory. This fact is demonstrated by the discovery of fragments of Iberian pottery, such as those found in the area of Cal Jaumet, the sculptural ensemble of Cal Posastre or the presence of small structures of what could have been an oppidum in the area of the Turó de la Roca. The Romans also left their mark. The discovery of a fragment of a male torso from an ancient funerary monument (3rd-2nd century BC), the remains of a villa from the Imperial period at Cal Posastre (1st century AD) and the necropolis of Pla de la Socarrada (3rd-4th century AD) are some of the evidence of their presence in the territory.
